"We invite the people of Huntington, WV to connect with our shared humanity and relationship to the earth through the experience of making soil. Bring your love letters, break-up letters, drawings, birthday cards, journal entries, outstanding utility bills, old cotton shirts, pottery, photographs, or any other biodegradable object that holds a special memory for you. Together we will shred and process these into a collective compost pile, inviting the worms and microbes to begin their work, connecting us to each other through the collective processing of memory. After the compost pile has been made, we will repot the soil into small earthen vessels with a queen of the night flower (epiphyllum oxypetalum). We will also offer this soil to local gardeners for their flower gardens."
